Education, not medical advice

The content on this site is general patient education about combined postpartum surgery. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship. It cannot account for your anatomy, your history, your household or your risk factors, and it must not be used to decide on a treatment by itself.

No outcome is promised

No operation can be promised to produce a particular result. Outcomes vary between patients, and the same operation performed well produces different results in different bodies. Statements on this site about what an operation can achieve describe what is generally possible, not what will happen to you.

Individual variation

Healing, scarring, swelling and the final contour all vary, and a combined plan varies more than either operation alone because two areas are healing at once. Results are judged at six to twelve months. A description of a typical recovery is not a prediction of yours.

When to seek care

If you have abdominal pain, a swelling or a lump that has not been assessed, a hernia, or a wound or skin problem that is not settling, see a clinician about that first. Nothing on this site is a substitute for having a symptom examined.

In an emergency

This website is not monitored. If you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department. If you are a patient of this hospital and have an urgent problem after surgery, use the emergency and aftercare contacts you were given at discharge.
